Kim Kardashian and Hugh Jackman praise opera singer Andrea Bocelli’s live gig

Kim Kardashian, Hugh Jackman and Kaley Cuoco have led the celebrity praise for opera singer Andrea Bocelli’s moving concert in Milan tonight.

The Italian tenor, 61, left viewers around the world in tears as he belted out his Music For Hope concert live from the deserted Duomo of Milan.

His emotional show was staged as a way of sending love and hope to the world during the coronavirus pandemic.

Kim was in awe of Andrea’s performance, tweeting: ‘A prayer for our world from @AndreaBocelli.’

Hugh shared a snap of Andrea singing and wrote: ‘From the bottom of our hearts, thank you @andreabocelliofficial.

‘A tremendous gift and exactly what we needed. #amazinggrace #happyeaster.’

Kaley was just as blown away by Andrea’s haunting performance, watching the show on her new television.

The Big Bang Theory star wrote on her Instagram Stories: ‘Breaking in the new theater with this epicness. Happy Easter!’

Speaking before his gig, Andrea said it is not a concert but a ‘prayer’.

He said: ‘I received this invitation by the mayor of Milan and by the authorities of the church and of course I answered yes. I’m very happy to do this.

‘Also, it’s not a performance. It’s not a concert. It’s only a prayer.’

He went on: ‘I will go there to pray, and I’d like to think that everyone listening to me sing can pray with me.’

Accompanied by organist Emanuele Vianelli, Bocelli sang at the historic cathedral for an audience of none because the Duomo, like most public places, are closed because of the spreading coronavirus.

He crafted and arranged a special set for the event, which included holy songs like Ave Maria and Sancta Maria.

In total, Italy has more than 135,00 confirmed cases and over 16,500 deaths from the COVID-19 outbreak.

The European country is in its fifth week of a nationwide lockdown.
